Welcome to Haughmond Class!

Class Teacher - Mrs Jo Taylor

In Haughmond Class we are looking at Our Local Area this term. In Geography we will be learning about Bomere Heath; looking at the houses and jobs within the village, we will be finding out about the history of the village too, so if you have any information, please let us know.

In our art lessons we will be learning about micro-habitats, and will be sketching and making some mini beasts. Our Design and Technology project will be looking at food, how it gets to our stores and how we produce it locally.

We have an exciting visitor in the first week of term, Clara Vulliamy, an author and illustrator. We will be asking her lots of questions about her books. Our English lessons will cover lots of exciting topics this term. We will be listening to and writing our own Australian stories, wring some humorous stories, listening to poetry, writing information texts and studying a famous poet.

In Maths we will be continuing to improve our mental maths skills; learning our number bonds by heart and practising counting in 2s, 5s, and 10s to name a few. We will be learning about fractions, time and working through real life problems involving money.

Science will see us learning about living things, we will explore micro habitats, and will try to make our own.

PE will consist of 2 different lessons this term. On a Monday, the children will be exploring dance, we will use a popular story to recreate a sequence using movement. On a Thursday, we will be with Mr Williams, learning about rounders, cricket and athletics.

We will be learning about basic computer skills in our computing lessons. We will learn how to open, save and print documents.

Please remember our door is always open, especially at the end of the day. If you ever wish to discuss anything, just let me know in the morning, or ring to make an appointment, and I will be happy to see you at the end of the day when there is more time.

I am looking forward to another exciting term with the children in Haughmond class.
