At Bomere Heath C.E. Primary School​​ children follow a two year rolling programme of topics. The follow a skills based curriculum where they have the opportunity to explore their topic across the curriculum and develop five Key Skills in order to make themselves the best possible learner. These Key Skills are at the heart of all our teaching and learning at Bomere Heath and are:

The New Curriculum


 

 

In September 2014 a new, revised curriculum came into force and is now followed by all primary schools. Full details of this curriculum can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/national-curriculum-in-england-primary-curriculum.

With the new curriculum in mind we reviewed our rolling programme in order to bring it in line with the new requirements. Details of our new curriculum and relevant downloads can be found below.

English at Bomere Heath

In addition to the above documents children in Reception, Year One and Two follow the Letters and Sounds phonics scheme. Bug Club is also used as a tool throughout the school in order to enhance grammar teaching. We also use the following Reading Schemes: Oxford Reading Tree, Oxford Treetops and Rigby Rockets. Teachers and children do Guided Reading sessions, using Rigby Navigator and Badger Learning Guided Reading books, amongst many other resources.

As the school moved from five to four classes in September 2016, the rolling programme for topics has changed!


 

RE Curriculum


At Bomere Heath, we follow a two year rolling programme in Key Stage One and a three year rolling programme in Key Stage Two, in line with the Shropshire Agreed Syllabus. Teachers will soon undergo training and development for the 2016 Shropshire Agreed Syllabus.​

PSHE Curriculum

We follow the award-winning Healthy Shropshire's "Eat Better, Move More" scheme of work, which is part of the "Respect Yourself" programme we also use. Each class follows a rolling programme:
